A Turkish Dinner, American Style

Our intentions had been grand and the expectations high.  Husband Jared and I were to prepare a typical Turkish meal, complete with lokum and Elma Cay for the Stuck household and guests.  Of course you know what they say about the best laid plans.  This was set to take place the same night that Thing 4 received stitches and after arriving home late from urgent care it was nearly 9:30pm before our meal took place.

The Things and their cousins waited patiently for the meal and then hungrily devoured all that was in sight.  Even Cousin Kaya discovered that she liked lentil soup.  Our menu consisted of chicken kabobs, kofte, pilav, lentil soup, shepherd's salad, bread and grilled eggplant and peppers with yogurt.  Husband Jared was the master chef while Poppi was the expert griller.  The food was delightful and to hear the Things explaining the dishes to their cousins was priceless.
